MASON CITY - The NIACC men's soccer team dropped a 6-3 decision to Marshalltown CC in non-conference action Wednesday on the NIACC campus.
NIACC (1-2 overall) trailed 2-0 at the half. The Tigers outscored the Trojans 4-3 in the second 45 minutes.
NIACC received second-half goals from Giovani Soares (penalty kick), Axel Deligdisch and Cameron James.
It was Soares' first goal this season and third career goal. Deligdisch scored his second goal of the season and sixth of his career and James' goal was his first career goal.
Soares' goal with 32 minutes, 40 seconds left in the contest trimmed the Marshalltown CC lead to 3-1.
Marshalltown CC pushed its lead to 5-1 before the Deligdisch and James scored back-to-back goals for the Trojans to trim the deficit to 5-3. The Tigers scored their final goal with 8:00 remaining to give them the 3-goal victory.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in a non-league contest at Indian Hills. The match is slated to start at 3 p.m.
