NIACC places 5th at Battle of Waterloo
WATERLOO - The NIACC men's golf team placed fifth at the Battle of Waterloo Saturday at Gates Park Golf Course.

"We had a really slow start out of the gate (Saturday) morning," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said of his team's 318 total on Saturday, "but I liked the fight I saw in the guys to stay in it as best they could on the back nine."
Freshman Garrett Ham led the Trojans with a two-day, three-round total of 76-70-75 - 221, which was tied for sixth in the individual medalist competition.
"Garrett Ham got it going on the back nine (Saturday) and shot 1-under par and that's something he can build of off."
Also for the Trojans, freshman Drew DeGabriele shot 75-77-81 - 233, which was tied for 19th in the individual medalist competition. Freshman Ashtin Willms shot 77-81-78 - 236, sophomore Tommy Birdsell shot 76-76-86 - 237 and freshman Gavin Anderson shot 84-83-84 - 251.
"Ashtin Willms really worked hard to save his round (Saturday) on the back nine," Frenz said. "Drew DeGabriele had a nice weekend, overall.
"Our goal (Saturday) was to win the day, which we didn't do, but it was good to play against some high quality competition this weekend."
