
NIACC's Thompson places 7th at regional meet
OTTUMWA - NIACC freshman Isaac Thompson placed seventh in the NJCAA Region 11 Division II race Friday at the Cedar Creek Golf Course.
Thompson, who is from Charles City, earned second-team NJCAA Region 11 Division II honors for his efforts. Thompson was also an overall honorable mention all-region performer.
Thompson covered the 8-kilometer course in a personal-best time of 26 minutes, 4 seconds. The time of 26:04 ranks 17th on the school's all-time 8K list.
NIACC placed fourth in the team standings with 89 points. DMACC was the team champion with 15 points. Southeastern CC was second with 64 points and Southwestern CC was third with 89 points.
Also for the Trojans on Friday, sophomore Joey Ringo was 15th (26:54), sophomore Ryan Kelly was 27th (28:26), freshman Lukas Vance was 30th (28:42) and freshman Connor Hammitt was 33rd (29:58).
NIACC will compete at the NJCAA Division II national meet in Richmond, Va. on Nov. 9.
