
Trojans' Kelly places 9th at Trent Smith Invite
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore Ryan Kelly placed ninth Friday at the Trent Smith Invitational on the NIACC campus.
Kelly covered the 8-kilometer course in a personal-best time of 26 minutes, 57 seconds. Adrian Welton, who was running unattached, was the men's individual champion in a time of 26;22, which is the 10th fastest time in the history of the Trent Smith Invitational.
Wartburg College was the team champion with 26 points. DMACC was second with 34 points and NIACC was third with 76 points.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore Joey Ringo was 18th in a time of 27:26. Isaac Thompson was 24th in a time of 27:48, Kevin Carney was 44th (31:35) and Lukas Vance was 46th (32:03).
NIACC's Alex Moore was 49th in a time of 37:37.
NIACC returns to action Oct. 5 at Wartburg College's Dan Hutson Invitational in Waverly.
