NIACC's Bertry wins ICCAC weekly honor
MASON CITY - NIACC's Sarah Bertry was selected as the ICCAC Division II women's cross country athlete of the week for the week of Oct. 25-31.
It was the 10th time in her career that Bertry has won the ICCAC weekly award, including five times this season. She was also honored for the weeks of Aug. 30-Sept. 5, Sept. 20-26, Oct. 4-10 and Oct. 11-17.
Bertry repeated as the NJCAA Region XI Division II individual champion last Friday in Waterloo in a personal best time of 18 minutes, 1 second in the 5-kilometer race. Her time of 18:01 is the second fastest in school history for the 5K.
The NIACC women, who placed second at the regional meet, return to action Nov. 13 at the national meet in Richmond, Va. Bertry was second in the NJCAA Division II national race in 2020.
