NIACC's Bertry earns ICCAC weekly honor for 6th time
MASON CITY - For the sixth time in her career, NIACC's Sarah Bertry was selected as the ICCAC Division II female cross country athlete of the week for the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 5.
Bertry, who won the award five times during her initial season, placed 16th out of 329 runners last Friday night at the Augustana Twilight meet in a time of 18:50 in the five-kilometer race.
It is the third time in her collegiate career that Bertry has broken the 19-minute mark in the 5K.
In 2020, Berty ran a career-best 18:26 at the Indian Hills Invitational and placed second at the NJCAA Division II national meet in a time of 18:33.
In the 2020 season, Bertry was honored as the ICCAC's Division II top female runner for the weeks of Aug. 31-Sept. 5, Sept. 21-27, Oct. 5-11, Oct. 12-18 and Oct. 26-Nov. 1.
