NIACC's Bertry wins NJCAA runner of week award
MASON CITY – NIACC's Sarah Bertry was selected as the NJCAA Division II women's runner of the week for the week of Sept. 20-26.
Bertry, who was also the ICCAC Division II cross country athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 20-26, placed 29th in the Division II Maroon race at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 24 on the Les Bolstad Golf Course. Bertry covered the 6-kilometer course in 23:29 in her first-ever 6K race.
Her place was the third highest ever by a NIACC women's runner in the Division II race at the Griak Invite and her time of 23:29 is also the third-fastest time by a NIACC women's runner at the Griak Invitational.
It is the second time Bertry has been selected as the NJCAA Division II cross country female athlete of the week. She also was honored for her performance in the week of Sept. 21-27 in the 2020 season.
NIACC returns to action Oct. 8 in the Trent Smith Invitational on the NIACC campus.
