
NIACC's Bertry places 2nd at Indian Hills Invite
OTTUMWA - NIACC sophomore Sarah Bertry placed second at the Indian Hills Invitational on Friday on the Cedar Creek Golf Course.
Bertry covered the 5-kilometer course in a time of 18 minutes, 58 seconds. Iowa Western freshman Mercy Biwott was the individual champion in a time of 18:01.
In her career at NIACC, Bertry has competed in 11 cross country races and placed first or second seven times and has placed in the top five in nine of the 11.
No. 2 (NJCAA Division I) Iowa Western was the team champion with 27 points, Graceland University was second with 56 points and No. 17 (NJCAA Division I) Indian Hills was third with 66 points.
Also for the Trojans on Friday, Lilly Stockberger was 15th in a personal best time of 21:28, Brianna Ross was 18th in a personal best time of 21:33 and Mercy Melly was 44th in a personal best time of 24:21.
NIACC returns to action Oct. 29 at the NJCAA Region XI Division II championships in Waterloo.
