MASON CITY - The NIACC men's soccer team improved to 3-0 with a narrow 2-1 non-conference victory over Hawkeye CC on Saturday on the NIACC campus.
NIACC received a late goal from Alejandro Caceres Garcia to lift the Trojans to the one-goal win. Garcia's game-winning goal came with 2 minutes, 17 seconds left in the contest.
NIACC led 1-0 at the half on a goal from Alex Scarano.
Hawkeye CC tied the contest midway through the second half before the Trojans pulled away with the goal in the final minutes.
The last time the Trojans started the season 3-0 was the 2017 season.
NIACC returns to action Sept. 18 in a home ICCAC contest against Marshalltown CC.
