MARSHALL, Mo. - The NIACC men's soccer team opened the season with a 1-0 victory over the Missouri Valley College Junior Varsity on Saturday.
It is the fifth straight season that the Trojans have won their season opener.
Aleksander Trujic scored the lone goal of the contest with an assist from Layton Wheeler five minutes into the contest.
The NIACC men accumulated 15 shots on goal compared to three for Missouri Valley. Matthew Janke pitched the shutout in goal for the Trojans.
NIACC returns to action at 8 p.m. Sunday against State Fair CC in Sedalia, Mo.
The Trojans open their home season on Saturday, Sept. 7 in a nonconference contest against Hawkeye CC.
