NIACC baseball team ranked 20th in recent poll

MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team is ranked 20th in the NJCAA Division II poll heading into the upcoming NJCAA Region XI tournament.

It's the fourth time this season that NIACC has been in the rankings. The Trojans (38-17) were 12th in the preseason poll released on Jan. 23, 17th in the March 21 poll and 18th in the March 28 rankings.

NIACC shared the ICCAC regular-season title with No. 18 Iowa Central. The Trojans and Tritons received first-round byes for the regional tournament that starts Thursday in Waterloo.

NIACC plays either Ellsworth, Iowa Lakes or Southeastern at 3:30 p.m. Friday in its first contest.

If NIACC wins on Friday, the Trojans play at 7 p.m. on Saturday. If the Trojans lose on Friday, they'd play again at noon on Saturday.
