MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The NIACC baseball team picked up a top-10 victory on Thursday.
The 12th-ranked Trojans toppled seventh-ranked Parkland (Ill.) 8-5 thanks to a three-run seventh inning.
Brandon Michie had three hits, including a double, and drove in three, and Ezequias Encarnacion was 3 for 4.
"I thought we grinded out at-bats all day," NIACC coach Travis Hergert said. "It was good to see our offense get some things going."
NIACC's Jarod Large allowed two earned runs and struck out five for NIACC on the mound. Tyler Jacobsen earned the win in relief, and Chase Stewart recorded the save.
NIACC (2-3) plays a pair of games Friday. The Trojans face Lake Land College at 10 a.m. and Rend Lake College at 4 p.m.
Notes: The 3-hit game by Michie was his 7th career game with at least 3 hits ... Michie has 23 career doubles, which ranks 19th on the school's career list ... Michie has 71 career hits and 49 career RBIs.
