NIACC's Gonpue places 5th in long jump
WAVERLY - NIACC's Gift Gonpue placed fifth in the long jump Saturday at Wartburg College's Chelsey Henkenius Invitational.
Gonpue, a sophomore from Cedar Rapids, earned her fifth-place finish with a leap of 4.71 meters (15 feet, 5 1/2 inches), which ranks fifth on the school's all-time indoor long jump list.
Also for the Trojans, freshman Olivia Spurling placed eighth in the mile run in a time of 5 minutes, 57.02 seconds. Freshman Bridget Canton placed ninth in the 800 in a time of 2:51.82.
NIACC's Kit Byars was 12th in the shot put with a toss of 10.03 meters (32-11) and 14th in the weight throw (33-2). The Trojans' Hannah Brinkman was 14th in the shot put with a toss of 9.40 meters (30-10 1/4).
NIACC returns to action Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Cornell College Invitational in Mount Vernon.
