NIACC's Droll places 2nd in 5,000 at regionals
COUNCIL BLUFFS - NIACC's Juliana Droll placed second in the 5,000-meter run Sunday at the NJCAA Region 11 track and field championships.
Droll, who is from Mason City, earned her second-place finish in a time of 20 minutes, 5.79 seconds, which ranks fifth on NIACC's all-time outdoor 5,000 list.
NIACC's Kit Byers placed third in the hammer throw with a toss of 122 feet, 3 inches (37.26 meters), which ranks ninth on the school's all-time hammer list.
The Trojans' Cloey Usher was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 14:07.02, which ranks third on the school's all-time steeplechase list.
Also for the Trojans, Lilly Radcliffe was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:09.37, which ranks sixth on the school's career best list. Taja Conley was eighth in 1:13.99.
Conley also placed seventh in the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.88, which is the second best 100 hurdle time in school history.
NIACC placed fourth in the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 51.73 running Gift Gonpue, Tenisha Herbert, Emily Usher and Conley.
The Trojans also placed fourth in the 4x400 in a time of 4:36.65 running Gonpue, Herbert, Radcliffe and Conley.
NIACC placed sixth with 44 team points. Iowa Western was the team champion with 261 points and Iowa Central was second with 221 points.
