6 NIACC women earn all-region soccer honors
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's soccer team was well represented on the all-NJCAA Region XI Division II soccer teams released on Wednesday.
NIACC had two first-team all-region players, two landed on the second team and two were honorable mention picks.
NIACC sophomores Brianna Marchand and Jette Busche were first-team selections. Marchand was an honorable mention pick in 2021 and Busche was a first-team selection.
The Trojans' sophomores Amalia Briseno and Jaya Soor were second-team picks. Soor was an honorable mention pick in 2021.
NIACC sophomore Valerie Nelson was an honorable mention selection and freshman keeper Jada Westover also earned honorable mention all-region honors.
Marchand, a forward, led the Trojans with 10 goals and one assist. Busche, a midfielder, scored five goals with 12 assists.
Briseno, a forward, scored four goals with one assist. Soor, a midfielder, scored two goals with one assist.
Nelson, a midfielder, scored two goals with four assists. Westover, who posted two shutouts, collected 69 saves.
