NIACC women top Graceland JV, 82-68
MASON CITY - Kourtney Manning led three players in double figures with 25 points as the NIACC women's basketball team topped the Graceland University Junior Varsity 82-68 Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC's Czarina Mada recorded a double/double with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Georgia De La Cruz scored 15 points as first-year head coach Brad Vaught picked up his first victory.
The game was tied 33-33 at the half, but the Lady Trojans (1-5 overall) outscored the Yellow Jackets 26-17 in the third quarter and 23-18 in the final frame to claim the 14-point victory.
Manning, whose previous career high was 16 points against Iowa Central in the season opener, also collected eight rebounds with a career-best six steals and three assists.
NIACC's Courtney Miller scored eight points with five assists and three steals. De La Cruz also had five assists as the Lady Trojans dished out a season-high 20 assists.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC contest at DMACC. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
