ROSEMOUNT, Minn. — NIACC opened its season Thursday with a 1-1 finish on Day 1 of the Rosemount Dome tournament. The Lady Trojans fell 10-2 in five innings to Cardinal Stritch in Game 1 and bounced back with a 6-4 win over Ellsworth in Game 2.
"The first game we just let the game go really fast and it looked like the first game of the year," NIACC coach Christi Weiser said. "The second game we just had good composure. It's fun to see them turn on their energy and be who they are as a team."
Allison Scott finished the day 4-7 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs and Kendall Cornick and Tricia Notermann were each 2-5 for the Lady Trojans.
"Katie LaBuda was outstanding for us both offensively and defensively," Weiser said. "We knew who she was last year and the results back that up today."
