NIACC's Scott earns ICCAC player of week honor
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore shortstop Allison Scott was selected as the ICCAC softball player of the week for the week of Feb. 8-14.
Scott, who prepped at Mason City, was 9 for 15 with four doubles, nine RBIs and two stolen bases in the Lady Trojans' four games in Rosemount. Minn.
In the Lady Trojans' 4-3 win over Ellsworth on Feb. 12, Scott drove in a career-high four RBIs, including two with a walkoff single in the seventh inning.
Scott, who was a second-team all-region selection as a freshman, is the first NIACC softball player to earn league player of the week honors since catcher Nicole Young won the award last March. Outfielder Brittani Sanchez also earned the award last February for the Lady Trojans.
NIACC (2-2) returns to action Feb. 26 in Rochester, Minn. The Lady Trojans face RCTC and Viterbo University.
