NIACC drops series final to DMACC, 5-3

BOONE - The NIACC baseball team dropped a 5-3 decision to DMACC on Sunday in the final game of the three-game ICCAC series.
DMACC, which won the opening two games of the series on Friday, scored two runs in the seventh inning and three runs in the eighth inning.
NIACC, which led 1-0 after six innings, scored two runs in its half of the eighth inning to take a 3-2 lead but the Bears regained a 2-run lead with their three runs in their half of the eighth frame.
Bennett McCollow gave NIACC a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the third inning. Zach Zaetta plated NIACC's two runs with a double in the eighth inning.
NIACC starting pitcher Brandt Thompson allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings of work. Thompson struck out 10 and walked two.
NIACC (10-8 overall, 0-3 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at home against Kirkwood in an ICCAC doubleheader at Roosevelt Field. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
