MINNEAPOLIS - The NIACC baseball team swept a doubleheader from Bryant & Stratton Wednesday at US Bank Stadium, the home of the Minnesota Vikings.
NIACC won the first game 6-2 on the strength of a pair of two-run home runs from Bennett McCollow and Jon Koehn. The Trojans pounded out 10 hits in a 7-3 win in the seocnd game to complete the non-conference sweep.
In the first game, NIACC (8-5) scored four runs in the second inning, including McCollow's two-run home run. The Trojans also added two runs in the fourth inning wtih Koehn's two-run blast.
NIACC's Ben Wagner and Koehn both had two hits in the opener. Cody Kelly and Ike Mezzenga both added RBIs for the Trojans.
Conner Wietgrefe collected the win for NIACC on the mound. Wietgrefe (2-0) scattered six hits and allowed two runs in five innings of work with four strikeouts and one walk.
Sammy Kratz and Lucas Gilbert both pitched scoreless innings of relief for the Trojans.
In the second game, NIACC scored one run in the first inning, three runs in the third inning, two runs in the fourth inning and a single run in the fifth inning.
Kelly was 2 for 3, including a solo home run, with two runs scored and two RBIs. Mezzenga was 2 for 3 with one run scored and two RBIs.
Teague Robertson (1-0) gained the win for NIACC. Robertson logged four inning allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Fritz Meyer and Noah Tieskoetter both pitched scoreless innings of relief.
NIACC returns to action at 7 a.m. Saturday against Century College in a non-league doubleheader at US Bank Stadium.
