NIACC sweeps Wartburg JV, 3-0
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team swept the Wartburg College Junior Varsity 3-0 on Think Pink Night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC won 25-13, 25-14, 25-20 to complete the season sweep of the Knights. The Lady Trojans also topped the Wartburg JV 3-0 in September in Waverly.
"(Monday) was a night that was more than just volleyball," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "It was the opportunity to give back to those who need our help, a night to work together on and off the court and a night to come together with one common goal."
NIACC improved its overall record to 21-14, which is the most wins in a season for the Lady Trojans since they went 22-12 in 2009.
Freshman Kennedy Meister had 13 kills, 19 digs, four ace serves and three assists to lead the Lady Trojans. Sophomore Hannah Wagner had 10 kills and 10 digs.
Also for the Lady Trojans, Sydney Roush had 15 assists and four digs, Connor Gauch had 20 digs, Ashley Groe had nine assists, Sarah Kimberly had three kills and three blocks and Jordana Foote had two kills and two blocks.
"We worked hard to minimize our errors on the court," Brandt said, "and we need to continue that mission as we head into our final conference match."
NIACC concludes its regular season on Wednesday in an ICCAC match at Iowa Lakes. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
