
NIACC's Spurling places 5th at regionals
OTTUMWA - NIACC freshman Olivia Spurling placed fifth in the NJCAA Region 11 Division II race Friday at the Cedar Creek Golf Course.
Spurling, who earned second-team all-region honors, covered the 5-kilometer course in a personal best time of 20:00. The time of 20:00 by Spurling ranks 12th on NIACC's all-time 5K list.
NIACC placed third in the team standings with 56 points. DMACC was the team champion with 19 points and Southeastern CC was second with 51 points.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore Juliana Droll was eighth in a time of 20:55, freshman Bridget Canton was 10th in 21:33, sophomore Cloey Usher was 16th in 22:21 and Emily Usher was 22nd in 28:22.
Droll earned second-team all-region honors and Canton earned honorable mention all-region honors.
Spurling, Droll and Canton all earned overall NJCAA Region 11 honorable mention honors.
The Trojans will compete at the NJCAA Division II national championships on Nov. 9 in Richmond, Va.
