NIACC falls to No. 2 Iowa Central, 3-0
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 2 (NJCAA Division II) Iowa Central in an ICCAC contest Wednesday evening in the NIACC gym.
Iowa Central (38-1 overall, 9-0 in the ICCAC) won 25-15, 25-18, 25-10.
"To some, finishing the regular season with a very talented Iowa Central team would be considered a tough draw, to us it is a privilege," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Being able to the play the game we love in front of many friends and family is an honor we don't take lightly."
Grace Tobin led NIACC with 11 kills, 10 digs, three ace serves and two blocks. Ryley Wetlaufer had seven assists and four digs.
Also for NIACC, Samantha Coron had six assists and six digs, Emily Wittnebel had three assists and three digs, Kalayah Kaschub had three kills and Halsie Keltner had two kills and two digs. Tiegan Barkema had five digs and two digs and Kyla Moore had three blocks.
NIACC wrapped up the regular season with a record of 15-24 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
"This team is something special and the true success of their journey won't really be known until years later.," Brandt said. "We create Trojans for Life and the lessons they learn along the way, will be with them forever. We are truly blessed to be on their journey."
