Weiner shoots career-best at Simpson Fall Invite
INDIANOLA - Sophomore Emma Weiner shot a career-best 89 to lead the NIACC women's golf team Wednesday at the Simpson College Fall Invitational.
Weiner recorded her career-low round by one stroke at the Indianola Country Club. Weiner's previous best round was 90 at the Battle of Waterloo on April 14, 2023.
"It was a great day for Emma Weiner (Wednesday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "Her front nine was really good, hitting fairways and making putts like it was her job.
"It was fun to see. She wasn't feeling the best (Wednesday) so she really had to focus on what she was doing."
Also for the Trojans, freshman Paige Panger shot 92, Cameran Moellers shot 97 and Karissa Hoon shot 106. NIACC placed 10th in the team standings with a 384.
"Paige Danger also had a nice day," Frenz said. "She hit some really fantastic shots (Wednesday).
"We just need to keep getting after it and play smart golf and our best days are in front of us."
Iowa Central was the team champion with a 313 and Waldorf University was second with a 328.
NIACC returns to action Tuesday at home with the NIACC Fall Invitational. The invitational, which is at Highland Park Golf Course, is set for 10:30 a.m.
