BOONE - The NIACC baseball team topped DMACC 2-1 in the first game of Saturday's ICCAC doubleheader.
DMACC took the second game 10-9 in eight innings by scoring two runs in the top of the eighth inning. The game was scheduled for nine innings but was called complete after eight innings because of darkness.
In the first game, sophomore left-hander Brandon Williamson gained the win for the Trojans with a complete-game four-hitter. Williamson, who allowed an earned run in the fifth inning, struck out a career-high 12 and walked five.
The 12 strikeouts by Williamson is tied for the fourth most in a single game in the Travis Hergert era, which began in 2013.
NIACC scored two runs in the sixth inning and Williamson pitched a scoreless seventh frame as the Trojans won for the third straight time in the series.
In the sixth inning, Shane Kelleher and Joey Werner both doubled and Kamrin Arons plated both runners with a single.
