DUBUQUE - The NIACC baseball team scored 26 runs en route to a doubleheader sweep over the Loras College Junior Varsity on Wednesday.
NIACC won the opener 14-9 after trailing 8-0 after three innings. The Trojans took the nightcap 12-1 in six innings.
NIACC (17-16) hit a total of nine home runs in the nonconference twinbill. Kamrin Arons, Bryce Ball and Cade Schares hit a home run in each game.
In the first game, the Trojans scored four runs in the fourth inning, two in the fifth, three in the sixth and five in the seventh to complete the come-from-behind victory. Schares was 2 for 4 with four RBIs, Ball was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Nate VanKan drove in three runs.
The Trojans hit five home runs in the opener. Ben Komonosky and VanKan also homered in the first game.
Blake Preston, who did not allow a hit with four strikeouts in four innings of work, picked up his first career win in relief. The Loras JV scored an unearned run off Preston in the fifth inning.
In the second game, the Trojans scored four runs in the first and second innings to take control of the contest. They hit four home runs in the second game with Kyle Pike also joining in the home-run parade.
Austin VanDeWiele gained the win for the Trojans. He pitched two innings allowing one run on one hit with three strikeouts and two walks.
NIACC returns to action Thursday in the first two games of a key ICCAC four-game series at Kirkwood. The doubleheader is slated to start at 1 p.m. in Cedar Rapids.
