NIACC splits with Northeast CC

NORFOLK, Neb. - The NIACC baseball team split an ICCAC doubleheader with Northeast CC on Friday.
Northeast CC won the first game 11-1 in five innings and NIACC salvaged the split with a 14-3 five-inning win in the second game.
In the second game, sophomore Tyler Lien gained the complete-game win. The left-hander allowed three runs on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk in his five innings of work.
Daniel Nikitovic led the NIACC offense with two home runs and four RBIs. It is the second time this season that Nikitovic. has hit two home runs in a game and the seventh time a NIACC player has collected two home runs in a single game.
Kyle Pike and Jacob Hansen also both hit home runs for the Trojans. Nikitovic and Hansen are tied for third on the team with five home runs.
In the first game, Northeast CC scored at least one run in every inning, including four runs in the fifth inning to end the game via the 10-run rule.
Kamrin Arons hit his second home run of the season in the second inning for NIACC's lone run of the contest.
The two teams wrap up their four-game series with a pair of games on Saturday. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
