
NIACC's Backhaus places 2nd in 100 hurdles
DES MOINES - NIACC's Tara Backhaus placed second in the 100 hurdles Friday at the Grand View Viking Classic in a time of 16.75 seconds.
The 16.75 seconds by the freshman from Mason City in the 100 hurdles is tied for the fourth best 100 hurdles time in school history. Lynn Hoeft also recorded a 16.75 in the 2022 season at the Jim Duncan Invitational.
Backhaus' previous best time in the 100 hurdles was 17.21 at the Mount Mercy DeBacker Invitational on April 21.
Also for the NIACC women on Friday, sophomore Jordan Swenson was third in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 11 inches. She was also 12th in the long jump (15-2 3/4).
