NIACC men place 15th at NJCAA half marathon
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The NIACC men's cross country team placed 15th at the NJCAA half marathon on Tuesday with 162 points.
New Mexico JC was the men's national half marathon champion with 14 points. Trinidad State was second with 17 points and Salt Lake CC was third with 37 points.
Iowa Western was the top ICCAC finisher with a fourth-place finish with 46 points.
New Mexico JC's Tomas Vega was the individual champion in a time of 1 hour, 3 minutes, 58 seconds. Vega's teammate German Vega was second in a time of 1:04.11.
Sophomore Breyden Christensen led the Trojans with a 52nd place finish in a career-best time of 1:16.04. Christensen placed 97th in 1:23.42 at the 2022 NJCAA half marathon.
NIACC freshman Owen Almelien was 59th in 1:17.03. Sophomore Bryson Canton was 89th in 1:21.37, freshman Joey Ringo was 115th in 1:26.26, sophomore Jacob Vais was 128th in a personal best time of 1:28.53, freshman Ryan Kelly was 131st in 1:29.18 and freshman Eli Bergman was 132nd in 1:29.23.
