MASON CITY - Pablo Salas scored a goal in the final seconds to give the NIACC men's soccer team a 2-2 draw against Iowa Central Wednesday night in an ICCAC campus on the NIACC campus.
The Trojans tie with Iowa Central snapped a seven-match losing streak to the Tritons. The last win by the Trojans in the series was a 4-3 overtime victory in the 2016 season.
It was the first tie in the series between NIACC and Iowa Central, which dates back to the 2001 season.
In Wednesday's match, NIACC took a 1-0 lead early in the contest on a goal by Hugo Garcia-Rosado Duran. The Trojans led 1-0 at the half.
Iowa Central, however, scored two goals in the second half to take a 2-1 lead. The Tritons held the lead until 10 seconds remained in regulation when Salas found of the back of the net to force the tie.
It was the second tie in the last three matches for NIACC, which also tied Marshalltown CC 0-0 on Sept. 9 in Marshalltown.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at home against Scott CC in an ICCAC contest. Match time on the NIACC campus is slated for 3:30 p.m.
