NIACC shoots 318 at BVU Fall Invite
STORM LAKE - The NIACC men's golf team shot a fall season low 318 on the second day at the Buena Vista Fall Invitational Sunday at the BVU Golf Course at Lake Creek.
NIACC shot a two-day total of 327-318 - 645 at the BVU Fall Invite. The Trojans opened their fall season last Monday with a 335 at the Iowa Central Fall Invitational.
"We got better (Sunday), which is a good first step toward our goals," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said.
NIACC was led by sophomore Tim Castle, who shot 75-76 - 151.
"Tim Castle was solid (Sunday) on the front nine," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "He had a little adversity on the back early in the round, but he really does an outstanding job of staying within himself and battling until the end."
Also for the Trojans, Elic Fjetland shot 82-78 - 160, Anders Palmquist 84-85 - 169, Jackson Koebernick 86-83- 169 and Mitchell Staudt 90-80 - 170.
"I'm really glad to see Elic play the way he did (Sunday)," Frenz said. "If he can remain steady like he did (Sunday), we'll be just fine.
"Mitchell Staudt put one of his better rounds together the fall, too."
Fjetland's 78 on Sunday was his best round of the 2023 fall season. The 80 by Staudt tied his career best round of 80, which he also recorded at last Monday's Iowa Central Fall Invitational.
NIACC returns to action Tuesday at the Southeastern CC Fall Invitational in Burlington.
"As our confidence grows, our scores will be better," Frenz said. "Overall, I was pleased with (Sunday's) efforts knowing we can be much better."
