NIACC volleyball team falls to Northeast CC, 3-0
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Northeast CC Wednesday night in an ICCAC match in the NIACC gym.
Northeast won 25-10, 25-16, 25-20.
"We started slow again and really just never relaxed enough to just play the way we can," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "NECC is a very good team that didn't let the ball drop without a fight.
"Mentally, we didn't step up as a team which was ready to play with that same intensity."
Sophomore Karlie Niedert led the Lady Trojans with seven kills and four blocks. Freshman Kaylee Whittington had six kills and seven digs, freshman Aubury Coleman had seven kills and two blocks and Hailey Winter had 12 assists and six digs.
Also for the Lady Trojans, Liv Block collected 12 digs, Jackie Bleifus had nine assists and seven digs and Amber Carter had four digs.
NIACC (12-13 overall, 1-5 in the ICCAC) returns to action Monday in a nonconference contest at Ellsworth. The Lady Trojans stopped Ellsworth 3-2 in the conference match between the two teams in September.
