NIACC volleyball team stops Southwestern, 3-1

CRESTON - In its final ICCAC match of the regular season, NIACC came out on top of Southwestern Community College in four sets, 25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 25-16.
"We are very proud of the team effort," NIACC coach Christ Brandt said. "They did a very nice job taking control of the match and even when we were down in the third set they continued to work hard."
Kaylee Whittington led the Lady Trojans with 21 kills, six digs and three aces. Karlie Niedert added 11 kills and three blocks and Aubury Coleman smashed down seven kills and tallied two blocks.
Hailey Winter and Jackie Bleifus combined for 44 assists and Liv Block recorded a team-high 15 digs.
NIACC (16-16, 3-5) hosts the Waldorf junior varsity Thursday for its Think Pink match.
The Lady Trojans open the NJCAA Region XI-B tournament next Wednesday at Iowa Central.
