NIACC wrestlers fall to Iowa Western
COUNCIL BLUFFS — The NIACC wrestling team earned two victories but it wasn't enough as the Trojans fell 39-9 to Iowa Western on Thursday in their first dual of the season.
Paul Mascarenas earned a 9-3 decision over Printice Walls at 125 while Tristin Luther pinned Seth Novak in 2 minutes, 17 seconds at 174 for the Trojans.
"It was nice to have Paul back in the lineup," NIACC coach Steve Kelly said. "Tristin Luther also had a nice night with a pin at 174."
NIACC returns to action today at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Duals, which begins at 9 a.m.
"We're going to be in some duals," Kelly said. "They'll be good for us."
Notes: Mascarenas is 8-3 in the 2015-16 season and has a career record of 32-16 ... Luther is 5-4 this season with a career record of 20-12.
