Mason City's Davison signs with NIACC
MASON CITY - Mason City's Emma Davison signed a national letter of intent Wednesday morning to run cross country and track and field at NIACC beginning in the fall of 2018.
Davison, who earned all-CIML Iowa Division honors during her senior cross country season, attended NIACC coach Curtis Vais' distance running academy in the summer of 2017.
"NIACC has a great coach," Davison said. "He worked with me last summer and I got to know how the athletes train.
"He's a runner himself and he's able to work with each individual. Also, NIACC has very strong academics. They are one of the top schools in the nation."
Davison said she did consider a few other schools before making her decision to attend NIACC.
"NIACC feels like home," she said. "I was able to take Comp I through NIACC while in high school so I know some of the teachers."
Davison said she's hoping to run at a four-year school after her two years at NIACC.
"The hope is to go to a NCAA Division II or maybe a Division I school," she said. "NIACC will give me a great opportunity."
