
NIACC women set to compete at nationals
PITTSBURG, Kan. - The NIACC men's and women's track teams will compete in the NJCAA national indoor championships Friday and Saturday.
NIACC's Wal Khat will compete in the 800-meter run preliminaries at 7:50 p.m. Friday. The finals are set for 3:05 p.m. Saturday.
Khat is ranked first in the 800 with a qualifying time of 1:52.45.
Also for the NIACC men, Blake Keller competes in the 5,000 at 4:45 p.m. and the 3,000 at 9:10 p.m. Keller is ranked 17th in the 5,000 (15:33.10) and 26th in the 3,000 (9:01.97).
NIACC will compete in the distance medley relay at 3:20 p.m. Friday. The Trojans will run Samuel Dean, Ethan Klasi, David Carter and John Kraft.
The Trojans are ranked 14th in the DMR (10:34.39).
On Saturday, the Trojans will run in the 4x800-meter relay with Carter, Keller, Dean and Canyon Kuhlmann. The Trojans are ranked 12th in the 4x800 (8:01.84).
For the NIACC women, Cailey Weaver will run in the 800 prelims at 7:35 p.m. Friday. Weaver is ranked 13th in the 800 (2:19.54).
The Lady Trojans' DMR team of Amy Fullerton, Cassandra Bonsall, Keisha Gonzague and Kendra Schmidt runs at 3 p.m. Friday. The Lady Trojans are ranked 18th in the DMR (13:23.30).
On Saturday, the Lady Trojans' 4x800 team of Schmidt, Bonsall, Fullerton and Gonzague runs at 12:30 p.m. They are ranked ninth in the 4x800 (9:58.39).
