NIACC, Hawkeye CC men battle to 1-1 draw
MASON CITY - One hundred and 10 minutes couldn't decide it.
The NIACC men's soccer team battled Hawkeye CC to a 1-1 double overtime draw in an ICCAC contest at the NIACC pitch Saturday afternoon.
The teams squared off for 90 minutes of regulation with a 1-1 score and they played two 10 minute overtimes and still couldn't decide a winner. It was the 14th tie in school history for the NIACC men and first since the Trojans and Iowa Western played to a scoreless draw in the 2015 season.
Hawkeye CC scored on a goal from Fadel Kabore with 43:03 remaining in the first half. NIACC tied the contest at 1-1 on an own goal with 17:35 to play in the first half.
The all-time series between NIACC and Hawkeye CC on the men's side remains tied at 2-2-1. The two teams split a pair of matches in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
NIACC (1-3-1 overall, 0-0-1 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at home against Northeast CC in an ICCAC match. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
