NIACC men stop Marshalltown CC, 78-73
IOWA FALLS - Wendell Matthews scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the NIACC men's basketball team to a 78-73 victory over Marshalltown CC on Friday at the Dale Howard Classic on the Ellsworth campus.
NIACC (2-2 overall) trailed 41-35 half but rallied for the five-point nonconference victory.
NIACC's James Harris scored 13 points and Quentin Hardrict and Deundra Robinson both scored 11 points.
Harris had four assists, Hardrict collected three steals with three assists and Roberson had five steals.
It was NIACC's first win over Marshalltown CC since the Trojans gained a 2-0 forfeit victory in the 2011-12 season.
NIACC returns to action Saturday against RCTC at the Dale Howard Classic. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
