NJCAA national wrestling tournament starts Friday
COUNCIL BLUFFS - The No. 13 NIACC wrestling team will send eight wrestlers to the mat Friday morning in the opening rounds of the NJCAA national tournament at the Mid-America Center.
First-round preliminary matches begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
The eight wrestlers that qualified for the national meet, which is hosted by Iowa Western, are seventh-ranked Brennen Doebel (125), Jamarius Jackson (133), sixth-ranked Austin Anderly (141), Colby Winnett (157), Tucker Black (165), Ryan Faught (174), Jaylen Lee (184) and fifth-ranked Mario Pena.
NIACC's first-round matches
125 - No. 7 Brennen Doebel (N) vs. Andrew Niessen (Itasca)
133 - Jamarius Jackson (N) vs. Tyus White (RCTC)
141 - No. 6 Austin Anderly (N) received a first-round bye.
157 - Colby Winnett (N) vs. No. 3 John Leal (Clackamas)
165 - Tucker Black (N) received a first-round bye.
174 - Ryan Faught (N) vs. No. 6 Tyree Overton (Lincoln)
184 - Jaylen Lee (N) vs. Deven Simpson (Mercyhurst North East)
285 - Mario Pena (N) received a first-round bye.
