
NIACC women ranked 14th in initial poll
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's cross country team is ranked No. 14 in the initial USTFCCA NJCAA Divison I poll released Wednesday.
Iowa Central is ranked first and Hawkeye CC is ranked 13th.
NIACC placed second at the Grand View Viking Invitational with 56 points on last Friday at Southeast Polk High School.
NIACC freshman Emma Davison was second in the five-kilometer race in a time of 20 minutes, 8 seconds. Other counting scores for the Lady Trojans were Caitlyn Regan (ninth in 21:16), Cecelia Hemsworth (14th in 21:56), Julia Dunlavey (16th in 22:16) and Alana Wickering (22nd in 22:52).
In 2017, the NIACC women were ranked 23rd in the third poll of the season and placed 29th at the NJCAA Division I national meet.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at the Arkansas Chile Pepper in Fayetteville, Ark.
