NIACC sweeps Southeastern, 3-0
WEST BURLINGTON - The NIACC volleyball team swept Southeastern 3-0 in an ICCAC match Wednesday.
NIACC won 26-24, 25-19, 26-24.
"We couldn't be prouder of the team effort (Wednesday)," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Perseverance is a quality that they continue to show and the daily work paid off (Wednesday).
"Offensively, they were dialed in to control their unforced errors and defensively put in the work to keep the ball in play."
NIACC was led by sophomore Tiegan Barkema with 11 kills, seven digs and one block. The Trojans' Alyssa Wickersheim had nine kills and six digs.
NIACC's Kaylee Ollendieck had 13 digs and one ace serve, Kennedy Schwiesow had 10 digs and Iwalani Beltran had a career-high 28 assists, three ace serves and seven digs.
Also for the Trojans, Jaida Hansen had four kills and five blocks, Jade Thomas had five digs, Kalayah Kaschub had two kills and three blocks and Kyla Moore had six kills, one ace serve, four digs and four blocks.
NIACC (4-12 overall, 2-1 in the ICCAC) returns to action Friday at home against DCTC and Marshalltown CC. The Trojans face DCTC at 2 p.m. and Marshalltown CC at 4 p.m.
