NIACC falls to Wartburg JV, 3-0
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Wartburg College Junior Varsity Thursday in its home opener in the NIACC gym.
Wartburg won 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.
"(Thursday), we learn and (Friday) we get back to work," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We, obviously, struggled (Thursday) to gain much excitement or momentum.
"We will always have plenty of opportunities for growth so this learning opportunity is crucial for us to move forward as a team."
NIACC (3-7 overall) was led by sophomore Kyla Moore with seven kills and two blocks. Sophomore Tiegan Barkema had six kills and seven digs and Ryley Wetlaufer had 20 assists and nine digs.
Also for the Trojans, Jaida Hansen had three kills, Kaylee Ollendieck had eight digs and one ace serve, Abbie Hyde had five digs and Kennedy Schwiesow had three digs.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at home against No. 5 (NJCAA Division II) Kirkwood. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
