RCTC tops NIACC on mat, 27-16
ROCHESTER, Minn. - The No. 16 RCTC wrestling team stopped No. 7 NIACC 27-16 in a non-conference dual meet Wednesday night.
It was the final dual of the season for the Trojans, who compete in the NJCAA Central District Tournament on Sunday in Centerville.
In Wednesday's dual against RCTC, the Trojans (3-5 in duals) picked up wins from Clarence Lee-Green (133), Deville Dentis (149), Christian Minto (165) and Jose Valdez (197).
Lee-Green, who is ranked ninth, picked up an 11-5 win over RCTC's Cael Bartels at 133 pounds to move his record to 9-5. Dentis, who is ranked fifth, gained a 16-0 techical fall over the Yellowjackets' Owen Pharo at 149 pounds to improve his 2021-22 record to 8-3.
Minto, who is ranked No. 1, took a 12-2 major decision from Zach Wells. Minto, who has a career mark of 44-1, is now 9-0 this season with three falls and two major decisions.
Valdez, who is ranked second, gained a 18-6 major decision over Colton Krell. Valdez, who has career mark of 30-6, remained undefeated this season with a mark of 10-0 with one fall and four major decisions.
In the 141-pound match, RCTC's fifth-ranked Parker Dobrocky edged NIACC's Quentrevion Campbell, 5-4.
