NIACC's Lee-Green, MInto, McCleish open with falls
COUNCIL BLUFFS - NIACC's Clarence Lee-Green, Christian Minto and Chase McCleish opened the 2021 NJCAA national wrestling championships with falls Wednesday morning.
Lee-Green (125) pinned Labette's Riley Weir in 6 minutes, 33 seconds in his opening-round match. Lee-Green improved his record to 5-3 with two falls.
Minto, who is the No. 1 seed at 165 pounds, stuck Barton's Stephan Duffy in 2:00 in his first-round contest. Minto (9-0) picked up his first fall of the season.
At 184 pounds, NIACC's Chase McCleish pinned Colby's Aiden Smith in 5:59. McCleish (5-3) gained his third pin of his freshman season.
NIACC's Quentrevion Campbell (7-1) advanced to the second round with a 5-3 win over Barton's Drew Burgoon.
At 174 pounds, NIACC's Randry Mugisha (1-6) gained a 11-2 major decision over Joliet's Mason Sargent.
At 197 pounds, NIACC's Jose Valdez (9-0) took a 19-6 major decision from Pratt's Bryce Westmoreland.
