NIACC women set to resume play at regional golf meet

ANKENY - The third and fourth rounds of the NJCAA Region XI women's golf tournament are set for Friday and Saturday at Otter Creek Golf Course. 

NIACC sits in fourth place after the first two rounds with a 366-361 - 727. Iowa Western leads the four-round tournament with a 647 and Iowa Lakes is in second with a 664.

The top team and top 10 individuals not on the winning team qualify for the NJCAA Division I national tournament May 13-16 in Daytona Beach, Fla.

"We need to go out there next week and give it all we have to get to Daytona," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said.

The NJCAA Division I national tournament is set for May 13-16 at the LPGA International Golf Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Freshman Jordyn Barragy leads NIACC after 36 holes with  91-86 - 177. She is currently tied for 14th place overall and if Iowa Western wins the regional tournament, Barragy is right on the cut line for national tournament qualifiers.

Also for the Lady Trojans, Morgan Luecht is at 92-87 - 179 (16th place overall), Sydney Fullerton has shot a 89-93 - 182 (19th place overall) and Ashley Alert is at 94-95 - 189 (21st place overall.

Southwestern's Bianca Findlay and Iowa Western's Lisa Lied are tied for the individual medalist lead at 155. They both shot first-day 78s on Friday and both shot 77 on Saturday.
