NIACC women place 3rd at Tiger Classic
FORT MADISON - The NIACC women's golf team placed third at the Iowa Wesleyan Tiger Classic with a 358 on Tuesday at the Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course.
The William Penn University Junior Varsity won the tournament with a 327 and St. Mary of the Woods (Indiana) was second with a 344.
"We are close to putting everything together on the women's team," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "A 358 is a good team score, but we all know they can go lower."
NIACC was led by Ashley Alert with an 86. Also for the Lady Trojans, Sydney Fullerton shot a 88, Morgan Luecht shot an 89, and Jordyn Barragy shot a 95.
"Ashley Alert was solid (Tuesday) with an 86," Frenz said. "Honestly, one bad hole spolied what was shaping up to be a fantastic round.
"Morgan Luecht parred her last six holes, which hopefully gives her the confidence to know she can get it done. Sydney and Jordyn put together decent rounds and need to cut down just a few mistakes and they'll be where they need to be."
The NIACC women continue their fall schedule on Oct. 11 at the NJCAA Region XI preview at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.
