NIACC's Kipkemboi earns ICCAC weekly honor
MASON CITY - For the third time in his career, NIACC's Melvin Kipkemboi has been selected as the ICCAC Division II cross country athlete the week.
Kipkemboi, who earned the honor twice in 2020, earned the ICCAC weekly honor for the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 5.
Kipkemboi, the defending NJCAA Division II champion, placed 14th out of 344 runners at the Augustana Twilight meet last Friday in Sioux Falls, S.D. against mainly NCAA Division I and II runners. He covered the four-mile course in a time of 20 minutes, 13 seconds.
NIACC, the defending NJCAA Division II champions, placed 13th out of 31 teams at the Augustana Twilight meet.
In the 2020 cross country season, Kipkemboi was the ICCAC Division II cross country athlete of the week award during the weeks of Aug. 31-Sept. 5 and Oct. 26-Nov. 1.
