
NIACC cross country teams run at Augustana on Friday
Last time out: The NIACC men's cross country team placed second with 48 points at the NJCAA Region XI time trial on Aug. 27 on the NIACC campus. The NIACC women placed third at the time trial with 93 points.
NIACC sophomore Wal Khat won the men's 5-kilometer race in a time of 16 minutes, 13.7 seconds. Iowa Central's Omer Almog placed second in the men's race in 16:13.9.
Also for NIACC, freshman Zach Freund placed eighth in 16:50.1 and sophomore Colby Kraninger was 12th in 17:03.7.
The NIACC women were led by sophomore Kendra Schmidt, who was ninth in 21:30.9 in the 5K race. Freshman Amy Fullerton was 20th in 22:54.5.
Up next: The NIACC men's and women's teams return to action Friday at the Augustana College Twilight Invitational in Sioux Falls, S.D. The women's 3-mile race starts at 8:30 p.m. and the men's 4-mile race starts at 9 p.m.
The NIACC men placed 11 out of 20 teams in the college division at last year's Augustana College Twilight race with 395 points. The NIACC women placed 17th out of 20 teams with 470 points.
