NIACC men place 4th at Red Tail Shootout
DIKE - The NIACC men's golf team placed fourth at the Red Tail Shootout Thursday at the Fox Ridge Golf Club with a 306-298 - 604.
NIACC was led by freshman John Doherty with a 74-72 - 146, which tied for sixth in the individual medalist competition. NIACc sophomore Beau Thompson also finished in the top 10 with a ninth-place finish with a 75-74 - 149.
"It was a really good day for the Trojans (Thursday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "it was a very good team effort. We picked each other up.
"John Doherty was solid again and I love the success Beau Thompson is having."
Also for the Trojans, Kai Nelles shot 79-75 - 154, JJ Wickman shot 80-77 - 157, Jack Barragy shot 78-82 - 160, Tyler Eaton shot 88-81 - 169 and Hunter Heintz shot 90-87 - 177.
The Trojans return to action May 1-2 at the NJCAA Region XI tournament at the Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Kalona.
"It's going to be a great regional tournament next weekend and we're ready," Frenz said.
