MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team pounded out 16 hits, including three home runs, and topped No. 13 Southeastern 22-6 in seven innings in the second game of Sunday's ICCAC doubleheader at Roosevelt Field.
Southeastern won the first game 5-4 as the two teams split the four-game series.
In the second game, NIACC scored five runs in the second inning, seven runs in the third inning, four runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth inning. The 22 runs is the most in a game in Drew Sannes' two seasons as coach of the Trojans.
The 22 runs is the most in a game since the Trojans plated 24 runs in a 28-24 loss to Hutchinson CC on March 14, 2018.
In the second inning, NIACC's Brian Williams and Franco Barbieri both hit two-run home runs.
NIACC's Jon Koehn hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning.
NIACC's Collin Kramer (4-2) gained the win allowing two runs on two hits with five strikeouts and four walks.
In the first game, Southeastern scored four runs in the first inning and pushed its lead to 5-2 with an unearned run in the sixth inning.
NIACC closed the gap to 5-4 in its half of the sixth inning on a two-run home run by Ben Tallman.
NIACC (14-19 overall, 9-17 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC doubleheader at Iowa Lakes.
